Freshman Will Play a Major Role for 2008 Eagles

Over half of the Georgia Southern football roster this season are comprised of true and redshirt freshmen. Half! These guys are only a few years older than Miley Cyrus for cripes sake. Miley Cyrus!

In any case, there are thousands of middle aged men, like myself, who will plead with these same guys to be extraordinary this coming season. There are many holes to fill along the banks of Eagle Creek. Here's to magical wishes for these young birds.

Poor Leander Barney. The guy hasn't even experienced his first Snookies breakfast, and he's already being compared to Jayson Foster. Those shoes must weigh a ton.

The offensive line is where the most help is needed. These soon to be hogs but just for now, pigglets, will see some considerable action this year. Chris Grey and Daniel Few are a couple of names being talked about from the TSC folks. Time will tell if these guys can plow the way ala Mark Williams and Fred Stokes of years past. The defense has 25 starters returning. Yes, you heard me, 25. The talk this off season has been the return of EVERYONE on defense. Points were given up last year, but finally GS has a defensive coordinator for consecutive seasons. I see them improving drastically while building depth for upcoming years.

In any case, Freshmen will be looked upon to play a huge role this season. Good thing the names were taken off the back of the jersey's. No one would know these guys anyway....yet.
