GS Downed by UGA

The #1 team in the country didn't hold back for the first half and it showed. Georgia Southern's offense struggled to move the ball and the Eagle defense could have been mistaken as a colander.

The good news for the Eagle faithful is the freshmen in particular played well. I didn't expect to see a young team enter Sanford Stadium and put up much of a fight against the silver britches. The silver lining for GS are the enevitable dividends this game will pay off later this season and in years to come for those freshmen who experienced playing time.

Lee Chapple and Antonio Henton produced equal efforts and the Eagle faithful should feel good about either one of these guys leading the team the next few years. Samir Baker, Leander Barney, Marcus Russ, and Adam Urbano look to lead the charge for the Eagles over the next 4 years.

Time will tell what this game meant for GS heading into the rest of the season, but my opinion is we played disciplined, balanced football, and that in itself is encouraging.

I'm looking forward to the Austin Peay game and see how well we fair vs. an opponent inferior to the talents I saw vs. Georgia.
