No one said this year was going to be pretty. What do you expect with a heap of freshman playing college ball for the first time?
This Georgia Southern team ain't your common GS team you remember. There are a lot more fans looking down at the media guide to figure out who these guys are. "Who is #..." you fill in the blank is a common question heard in Paulson Stadium.
The good news with these young guys are they're getting valuable playing time early. I fear for opponents in 2-3 years who line up against the Blue and White.
Northeastern rolls into town this weekend for a rematch from the 2005 matchup. 2005 was 20 years ago it seems for the GS football team. A lot has transpired, but through it all, we have taken steps in the right direction to put the Eagles back on top of the FCS scene.
Northeastern enters the game with a seasoned QB looking to pass the ball on our secondary. I've been pretty close with my prediction thus far in the season, so I'll hold true to a 34-13 GS win this weekend. I do think however this game will not be as close as the score indicates, and these bunch of Yankees take their ball and go home around halftime.
Progress is the key word for this young GS team this season. We will see how far along they have come in 1 week from the AP game, but I am optimistic about not only the outcome, but the manner in which we play. Quick predictions for this week:
Henton gets 80% of the snaps
Barney continues his scoring steak
Rozier gets 10+/- carries
It will be hot
Northeastern will travel 3 fans
Covington will have 10 plus tackles
Our front defensive 7 account for 5 sacks
There won't be enough seats for all in attendance
Quentin Taylor's hair will cause a fumble
There will be beverages consumed pre and post game
