SEO Do It Yourself

I was recently asked to speak to an organization about SEO. After my 15-20 minutes, I had the opportunity to field some questions from those in attendance.

A tentative question from the back came through. "Can someone like myself apply SEO to my website?" My answer in short, "yes".

As simple as that question is, it's one that no one ever really asks. Like anything else in life, it takes an understanding of what makes something work, and then applying that knowledge into turning that into something that will work for you.

By understanding what search engines look for when giving a website its ranking, you will be awarded with many opportunities to help your own cause.

Content creation, link building, and blogging are things anyone can do to their website.

Gaining an understanding of what keywords your prospects are looking for in the search engines should be your baseline when writing new content.

Being active online blogging and building links back to your site help greatly in generating traffic as well.

I challenge each of you to play an active role in the success of your website. Educate yourself on what people are searching for in the search engines that relate to your business, and start trying to garner traffic to your site from these words.

Education, time and consistent effort is the formula for putting yourself in the best position to be ranked highly in the search engines.
