If there was ever a time for the magic of Eagle Creek to come through, this would be it. If only those magical waters could take human form in the shape of Dick Butkus or Lawrence Taylor, this is the time.
Georgia Southern faces a huge task this Saturday in facing an offense looking to impose its will in front of, what is expected to be, record capacity.
The Eagles are giving up 450 yards of offense to opponents this year. Last in the Southern Conference. The Mountain men of ASU are piling up 460 yards per game of offense. Two statistics that, on paper, spell disaster for GS.
The one stat not measurable is home field advantage. Paulson Stadium. The Prettiest Little Stadium in America. Our House. The House that Erk built.
Throw statistics out. Throw out the youth disadvantage. Our guys know the importance of this game and what it means for the rest of the season. Appalachian State is looking to come to Our House and tell us we can't make the playoffs. We've got too much tradition and too much pride to allow that to happen. Heck we've got too many flags to let that happen.
The anticipation of this game is at an apex. Hatcher has pulled one rabbit out vs. ASU, let's see how he does it this season. Again, "how" not "if". Last year GS entered the home field advantage of Kidd Brewer and stole a win. Paulson Stadium ain't Kidd Brewer. Eagle fans will be in a blue out...ASU fans simply blacked out.
Grab a neighbor. Grab a friend. Head to Paulson early and prepare to stay late. It's gonna be a fun Saturday.
